Belle & Wissell led the recent updates to Umpqua Bank’s digital installation at its South Waterfront store in Portland, Oregon.

The installation consists of six displays integrated into a large graphic surround, creating an immersive mixed media surface. For each of its locations, Umpqua has a distinct brand element palette; Belle & Wissell worked closely with the Umpqua team to determine a visual vocabulary to best fit this storefront.

Because of its proximity to the river, this store, the graphic surround, and the resulting digital experience incorporate water-based design and illustrations.

Like similar installations at its other stores, the South Waterfront’s digital experience presents an evolving series of vignettes—providing a familiar, yet unique experience for clientele. Illustrated elements move throughout the canvas in subtle groupings, appearing to exist at varying depths. The result is a constantly-shifting series of abstracted landscapes with great visual diversity.

In addition to the movement on-screen, the color palette evolves throughout the experience, drawing from Umqua’s brand colors. This dynamic, artful installation is at once innovative and recognizable—welcoming customers both established and new to Umpqua’s South Waterfront store.
